Just finished #814: Riding With Death
Interesting moments from this episode:
Mike cooking as a teppanyaki chef for the Bots; Pearl, Observer, and Bobo are under attack on the Camping Planet; Servo’s song “The Funky Seventies”; Servo builds himself a temporary body as a trucker; Crow becomes superhero Turkey Volume Guessing Man; Pearl has a sort of ceremony (in the Widowmaker), and receives many medals for her bravery during the war.
Jim Mallon [Gypsy], Trace Beaulieu [Crow], Kevin Murphy [Servo]
this is the best quality i’ve ever seen of this behind-the-scenes photo
The aftermath of the S.O.L. crisis, from Experiment #314: Mighty Jack
Note that in The Amazing Colossal Episode Guide, they mistakenly put this pic with 319, and say it’s the exploded Twinkie from Joel’s Between-Meal Mortar
Earlier this evening was Experiment # 417: Crash Of The Moons (w/the short: General Hospital [1]). This was the first time they used the term ‘area’ as a euphemism for a man’s… you know… “place”.
i would have watched this as a double-feature with 413: Manhunt In Space, but i learned to late that it’s a sequel, and i dont have 413 — yet.
Tonight i thought it’d be fun to do an MST3k Double-Feature, since i havent in quite some time. So, i made it a Lee Van Cleef double-feature, featuring #322: Master Ninja I and #324: Master Ninja II. Both of these “movies” were created by putting together episodes of the failed tv series, The Master. An interesting note is that Demi Moore is in the first “movie”. Other random notes:
In 324, Servo shouts out “MENDOZAAA!!”, à la McBain in The Simpsons
He also does a “He learned too late” riff, at the start of MJI (Van Cleef was also in #311: It Conquered The World
Much like in Mitchell, we hear Servo doing some “whaka-chickah” with the film’s score
Also, at the end of 322, they use the “Master Ninja Theme Song”, rather than “Mighty Science Theater”
I read that there had been talks of doing the 3rd “movie” during season 6 of MST3k, but that idea luckily remained just an idea.
MST3k - #907: Hobgoblins
(the funny thing you cant hear in the 2nd GIF, is Servo making a squeaking sound)
well, i just finished Show 907: “Hobgoblins”. people who put down low budget films — like the ones made by Full Moon, or Greg Araki, or Troma — should see this one… it’s terrifying (and not in the way Writer/Producer/Director Rick Sloane had intended it to be!). very unrealistic [and not scary] alien creature/monster puppets, actors who must’ve been hired off the street the day they began filming… oh, and i think that flamoyant kid from the High School Musical films was in this, as the guy in the red suit with the sequined bowtie and lapels…
and i loved the bit with the cardboard Mike & the Bots, as well as the cardboard Rick Sloane. and the final note in the film’s end credits.
last night, i watched Experiment #314: Mighty Jack — chosen mainly for another of my favorite MST3k musical bits: Slow The Plot Down.
earlier this evening, i made it through another MST3k that Im probly one of the last fans to see — #822: Overdrawn At the Memory Bank. this episode also includes the PPTV skits, along with one of my favourite songs, When Loving Lovers Love, performed by Pearl and Observer/Brain Guy
what a ridiculous movie! i hope that no PBS stations aired this film during their own pledge drives, or they’d surely go broke!
Last night, i made it through Experiment #318: Star Force (Fugitive Alien II). i put it off, because i knew it’d suck. the riffing was great, but the film was torture. had to love Crow’s repeated “Again??” - kept me laughing. is this episode the most use of “Hi-keeba!”? Altho the film was difficult, next time, Im gonna watch both films back-to-back, as a double-feature.
Bicycle Song || Servo, Crow, Joel
Servo makes up words to go along with the background music at the beginning of Gamera Vs. Guiron (Exp. 312). Crow and Joel join in. This is cut together, so that you dont have the needless dialogue
Catching up on MST3k stuff i’ve watched this week…
Experiments:
212 - Godzilla Vs. Megalon
312 - Gamera Vs. Guiron
Other MSTings:
ABC World News guest appearance: Tom Servo & Mike Nelson (mostly about the Academy Of Robots’ Choice Awards Special)
an interview with Kevin Murphy & Mike Nelson (from 2003 or 2004)
VH-1 SSMR - Supersecret Movie Rules: Slashers (feat. interview commentary by Mike Nelson), in the style of I Love The ’80s or similar
Playstation Underground (Mike and the Bots riff on Playstation games)
SF Vortex (Sci-Fi Channel show, feat. Mike and Mary Jo, and some rude, wannabe hack sci-fi writer that disses what they do to sci-fi films)
MST 3000 Presents: Poopie Parade Of Values
Edit: Oops! Forgot a screencap for the Kevin & Mike interview!
