This happened very close to my apartment. I had no clue it was an explosion, until i heard from 2 random neighbours i passed on my way to rehearsal. Sadly, the man who lived in the house was killed. Thats pretty fucked.

Susan Johnson, Michigan Teacher, Suspended For Allowing Student To Play Gay Song In Class
A Michigan-based performing arts teacher has been suspended for playing a song about being gay to her students in class.
Susan Johnson, who teaches at South Lyon’s Centennial Middle School, said one of her eighth grade students asked if he could play a song in class. The tune in question was “Same Love,” performed by Seattle-based hip-hop artist Macklemore and produced in support of marriage equality.
“I asked him a few questions about the song…if it was violent, if there was any profanity, and he said no,” Johnson told WJBK. “I really love my kids and I never want to hurt them, but I also know that there’s a lot of bullying and there’s a lot of gay bashing and racial issues going on in our country and I want the kids to feel comfortable in my class no matter who they are.”
Not all faculty shared Johnson’s enthusiasm, however, and the teacher was told she would be suspended for a total of three days — two without pay — after a student claimed they were offended by the song’s content. Centennial Middle School officials would not comment on the suspension, but Johnson provided paperwork to the news channel which claimed she should have asked permission to play the song, which contains controversial content including “homosexuality, religion, politics views and a sexual slur.”

I just read about this today:
Director’s Cut of Little Shop of Horrors film will be screened at the New York Film Festival with original violent ending. Ellen Greene, who played Audrey in the classic film (as well as the original 1982 Off-Broadway production), and director Frank Oz are scheduled to make appearances at the Director’s Cut screening.I love how they call it ‘never-before-seen footage’ — as if the die-hard fans havent found it on youtube, or as a torrent, yet!

Uma Thurman was nominated as Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her work as a needy star in the new musical series Smash. In the category of Outstanding Choreography, Joshua Bergasse was nominated for his work on the Smash musical numbers “National Pastime,” “Let’s Be Bad” and “Never Met a Wolf…”
Tony Award winner Marc Shaiman (Hairspray), along with Christian Bacon, was also nominated for Outstanding Music Composition For a Series (Original Dramatic Score) for Smash, for the episode “Publicity”. Shaiman (composer-lyricist) and Hairspray collaborator Scott Wittman (lyricist) were also nominated for their song “Let Me Be Your Star” from the Smash pilot. (Shaiman was also Emmy-nominated for co-writing the 2012 Academy Awards show.)
Shout! Factory/Scream Factory Does Justice to Halloween II (hopefully!)
According to their website, the new release of Halloween II — Halloween II [Collector’s Edition] (Blu-ray) — will contain both the Theatrical Cut of the film, as well as the Television Cut ‘with added footage not seen in the theatrical version’. Let’s hope this is true, seeing as how they left it all out of the previous Blu-ray release. Im a bit annoyed that Ill have to re-buy the film, but Im hoping it’s worth it! It’s also supposed to contain audio commentary with director Rick Rosenthal and stunt co-ordinator/actor Dick Warlock; The Nightmare Isn’t Over – The Making Of Halloween II, featuring Rick Rosenthal, Lance Guest, Dick Warlock, Alan Howarth, Dean Cundey and more… Horror’s Hallowed Grounds: Revisiting the original shooting locations; Still Gallery; Theatrical Trailer, TV and Radio Spots. They also have said ‘This Blu-ray features a reversible wrap, which means you can take out our newly commissioned artwork and flip it around if you’d prefer to have the original theatrical art showing’. To be released 09/18/2012.

Little Shop Of Horrors - the Blu-ray Premiere!
Warner Home Video - Oct. 9th, 2012 (order date Sept. 4) will stock shelves with Little Shop of Horrors: The Director’s Cut on Blu-ray for the first time ever.
The Blu-ray debut includes two high-definition versions of the 1986 cult-classic: the theatrical cut and a director’s cut that features a newly restored, 20-minute alternate ending.
Extras include commentary by director Frank Oz (on the theatrical version), an introduction by Oz with Richard Conway, outtakes, deleted scenes and a behind-the-scenes documentary. The Little Shop of Horrors Blu-ray comes packaged in a 40-page book featuring movie trivia, actor and director bios and more.
